Description

Holly Cottage is a pair of late 18th-century houses situated on the west side of Wakefield Road, Stalybridge. The houses are constructed of watershot stone with a slate and stone slate roof. Each house is double-depth and one bay wide, standing three storeys high.

The front facade is relatively plain. It features two doorways, one obscured by a 19th-century brick porch and the other by a 20th-century timber porch, and a small arched window above. The gables have two-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows, and two 19th-century oriels are located to the left.

The rear elevation is characterized by four-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows. A 19th-century bay window is present on the ground floor, with two four-light windows above it on the first floor, and two six-light windows (of a flush design) on the second floor. The building has eaves gutter brackets and gable chimney stacks.
