Description

Audenshaw Lodge is a house dated 1774, as indicated by the lintel in the left gable. It is built of Flemish and header bond brick with a graduated stone slate roof. The house follows a double-depth central-staircase plan, with two storeys and later additions to the left and rear. The central bay is slightly projected. A cornice runs along the eaves. The main entrance features an 8-panel door set within pilasters and a cornice head, with an overlight and a later, larger classical surround. Round bow additions flank the door, featuring tripartite sash windows with curved sills and eaves cornices. Three first-floor sash windows, originally 16 and 12-pane, are set within flat gauged brick arches with stone keys, the central key being scrolled. One of these windows has been replaced by a 20th-century casement. Gable chimney stacks are present, along with a small central dormer window. A two-bay addition dating to the 19th century is located to the left. The interior includes six-panel doors and a staircase with turned balusters and a column newel.
