Description
Longshaw Clough Farmhouse and the adjoining farm building date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature a slate and graduated stone slate roof. The farmhouse has a double-depth central-staircase plan with three storeys and a single-depth two-storey wing to the left, while the farm buildings are attached to the right.
The ground floor of the farmhouse has four workshop windows with flat-faced surrounds and 20th-century casements. There is a central door on the first floor with a heavy square-cut stone surround, accessed by a flight of stone steps. The first and second floors each have two windows with stone sills, wedge lintels, and 20th-century casements. Gable chimney stacks are present on the building. The left wing features a two-light flat-faced mullion window on each floor.
The adjoining five-bay farm building likely predates the farmhouse and has later window openings and projecting outshuts at each end. The rear of this building has a similar first-floor door surround, with five-light mullioned workshop windows on the ground floor and two three-light windows on the first and second floors, all with the mullions removed.
