Description
No. 117 Station Road is a house built around 1890, located at the right-hand end of a terrace of five houses. It is constructed of brick with painted dressings and features a slate roof. The house has a double-depth plan with two bays and two storeys, plus an attic. Notable architectural details include a projecting plinth, a first-floor band, and decorative brickwork at the eaves. The recessed porch on the left contains a four-panel door with a window above it, while to the right is a two-storey canted bay window. The attic features a gabled dormer window. All windows were originally sash windows but were altered around 1980. A gable chimney stack is present. This house is historically significant as it was the home of the artist L. S. Lowry from 1909 to 1947.
