Description

The band stand in Victoria Park, Swinton and Pendlebury, was built in 1897 to commemorate the sixtieth year of Queen Victoria's reign. It features a brick plinth, a cast-iron structure, and a slate roof. The band stand has an octagonal canopy supported by corner columns. Wrought-iron rails span between the ornate cast-iron columns, which connect to the canopy using enriched cast-iron brackets designed with acanthus scroll motifs. The roof is octohedral and consists of two stages, with the upper stage being swept and separated by a decorative pierced vent. A weather-vane is also present.
