Description

This house, located on Bolton Road in Salford, dates from around 1880. It is constructed of blue-buff brick with red brick detailing and a plain-tiled roof. The building is an irregular composition in a domestic Gothic style, with two storeys and an attic.

The entrance is located within a projecting porch on the right-hand side. This porch has a hipped, lean-to roof and a gable facing the street, featuring a mullioned and transomed window with leaded lights. Narrow sash windows are present on the ground floor of the central bay, and above is a 6-light mullioned and transomed window illuminating the staircase. A projecting gable is situated to the left, with a wide 16-pane sash window on the ground floor and two shallow, segmentally-arched recesses on the first floor, each containing single and paired sash windows. The apex of the gable includes a 3-light mullioned casement window with small panes and is ornamented with diaper brickwork and tile hanging. A corbelled string course runs below the first floor.

The building includes rear and axial stacks with exposed shafts topped by corbelled caps. The interior has not been inspected.
