Description

Parr Fold is a house, now divided into two houses and two cottages, dating to the mid-19th century, although it incorporates a datestone indicating 1722. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick with a slate roof. It originally comprised a two-bay, two-storey house with a wing and outshut to the rear, alongside a 20th-century addition to the right and one-storey cottages with attics to the left.

The main house has a central doorway with the 1722 datestone positioned above it. It features two cross-casement windows on each floor, with stone sills and cambered brick arches; one window was replaced in the 20th century. Gable chimney stacks are present. The cottages have doors to the left – one partially obscured by a 20th-century porch – and three-light timber mullion windows with brick hoodmoulds. Dormer windows are visible in the roof, along with a chimney stack with a diagonally set cross-shaped shaft. The rear elevation of the cottages is symmetrical around a central gable, with matching door and window openings.

The rear of the main house displays a gable with raised diaper-pattern brickwork above three-light timber mullion windows. The interior appears to have no original features dating back to 1722. The building is included on the list for group value.
