Description
Dearnley Old Hall is a house that likely dates from the early to mid 17th century. It is constructed from rendered stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a three-unit, two-storey layout, with a 19th-century parallel range added to the rear. A projecting plinth is present, and there are paired doors between the first and second bays, which have chamfered surrounds and flat-arched lintels. The windows include five, six, and four-light double-chamfered mullions with hoodmoulds that extend over the doors, as well as four and five-light windows on the first floor. The gables are coped and have kneelers, while the ridge and gable chimney stack has been rebuilt in brick. The rear of the building is obscured by the 19th-century addition, which is made of rock-faced stone. Inside, the house retains a timber-framed crosswall at the lower end, featuring three Tudor-arched doors in a medieval style, along with chamfered beams and a boxed-in bressumer beam.
