Description

Lower Carr is a house said to date from 1765. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth central staircase plan and stands three storeys high, with small additions on the right made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The central door is framed by a rusticated surround and has a keystone lintel above it. There are two 4-light windows on both the ground and first floors, and a 10-light workshop window on the second floor, all of which have recessed flat-faced stone mullions. The house has gable chimney stacks with cornices, 2-light gable windows, and a blocked taking-in door at the rear.
