Description
Marled Earth Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Tame Lane in Saddleworth. It is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone, which is largely rendered, and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall, with quoins at the corners.
The main entrance door is obscured by a 20th-century porch, and there are three and five-light windows on either side of the door. On the first floor, there is a notable 12-light workshop window with king mullions, and all windows have recessed flat-faced mullions. Additionally, there are two-light gable windows and the farmhouse has been extended to the left, where a barn with a dove-cote in the gable can be found. The rear of the building features a mix of two, three, and eleven-light windows, along with ridge and gable chimney stacks.
