Description

Three houses, dating from the mid-18th century to the mid-19th century, incorporating elements of an earlier house from the early 18th century. They are built of watershot hammer-dressed stone with a graduated stone slate roof. The houses are double-depth and have a total of four bays and three storeys. Bays 2 and 3 contain the early house, which features stone quoins, square-cut door surrounds, and 4 and 6-light stone mullion windows; some flat-faced, some recessed flat-faced, and one, the earliest, is double-chamfered. The second floor was added in the late 18th or early 19th century, after the construction of bay 1 (number 6). Bay 1 has a square-cut door surround on the left and each floor has a 5, 6, or 7-light recessed chamfered mullion window with a king mullion, although several mullions have been removed. Bay 4, built in the mid-19th century, has a window on each floor, an eaves cornice and is taller than the other bays; it is now part of number 2. The ridge chimneys have been rebuilt in brick.
