Description

This is a late 17th century house, likely built around 1740 as suggested by the inscription “IG 1740” on the door lintel, with a later 18th century addition to the left. The house is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone in narrow courses, with a roof of graduated stone slates. It is a two-unit, two-storey building. The left bay, the addition, features a five-light window on the ground floor and a four-light window above, both with recessed cavetto-moulded stone mullions. The original bays contain a window interrupted by an inserted door, which has resulted in a two-, three-, and three-light double-chamfered cavetto-moulded mullion window on the ground floor, with a later window inserted between the first two lights. The first floor has a similar three-light window, later extended to five, and a 19th-century sash window. Two ridge chimney stacks are present, along with two- and three-light gable windows. The ceiling of the original part of the house has cambered chamfered beams. Projecting plinths and quoins are also incorporated into the design.
