Masonic temple. Dated 1929 below centre of parapet, by Thomas Worthington and Son. Portland stone (roof not visible). Large rectangular plan with slightly projecting wings. Stripped classical style. Three storeys, a 3:5:3-window facade, symmetrical, the wings slightly lower, with channelled rustication to ground floor, the centre with low forecourt walls between the wings, a corbelled balcony over 1st floor, and an enriched frieze to the parapet, with lion masks. The centre has a square-headed doorway with moulded architrave and panelled double doors, single-light windows to the inner bays and tripartite windows to the outer, and tall sashed windows at 1st and 2nd floors, the lower with plain reveals and the upper with architraves and cornices, all these windows with small panes, 5 small square ventilation grills above, and the dated "MCMXXIX" in the centre above these. The wings have similar fenestration at ground and 1st floors (those at ground floor with voussoirs and keystones), and at 2nd floor one tall tripartite sash in a round-headed arch, with a corbelled balcony and enriched tympanum. Single-storey extension at right-hand end, with round-headed archway. Rear and interior not inspected.
