Description
The railings and gateways to the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, located on Old Church Street in Newton Heath, date from around 1815. They feature cast-iron railings set on a sandstone ashlar plinth, with wrought-iron gates. The railings enclose the west, north, and east sides of the churchyard and are designed in a Gothick style. They consist of simple bar railings arranged in a continuous arcade of trefoiled two-centred arches.
The gateway on the north side has slender standards and an ogee overthrow with quatrefoil open-work. It also features large curved "buttresses" in a similar style on the inner side, and the gate includes dog-bars, two trefoil panels with fleurs-de-lys, and scrolled cresting. There are similar gateways on the west and east sides, although the gateway on the west side is damaged, and one of its gates was loose at the time of the survey.
