Description

This is a range of three houses located on Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, Manchester, built in the early 19th century and subsequently altered. The houses are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with some areas now roughcast and painted white, and have slate roofs. They follow a double-depth plan with rear extensions. The arrangement is three bays plus four bays plus three bays, with the central house being higher and featuring an open pedimented gable. The buildings have a plinth, a sill band on the first floor, and a moulded eaves cornice.

Number 691, on the left, is roughcast and painted white. It has a recessed porch with set-in columns and a prominent semi-circular bay window with pilasters, an entablature, and altered window openings. It also features altered windows above and a hipped roof. Number 695, on the right, has an elliptical-arched doorway with a set-in doorcase and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. To its right is a semi-circular bay window with pilasters, an elaborate entablature, and three large sash windows. The ground floor is altered, the first-floor windows have flat-arched heads, and it has a hipped roof. Number 693, in the centre, has an altered, rendered and painted ground floor. It has four four-pane sash windows on the first floor; the central pair have flat-arched heads, and the outer pair are round-headed with imposts and keystones.
