Description

No. 19 King Street is a shop built around 1880, which has been altered over time. The building is constructed of yellow brick with sandstone dressings and features a slate roof. It has a rectangular plan that runs at right angles to the street and stands four storeys tall. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front, while the upper floors showcase an arcaded range of four-light windows. The first floor is supported by slim cast-iron columns with arched open-work brackets. The second floor features round-headed windows with set-in shafts, enriched imposts, and linked hoodmoulds adorned with large mask keystones, alternating between male and female designs that are cheerful and stylish. The third floor has shouldered windows, and the building is topped with a parapet.
