Description

No. 30 King Street is a shop that serves as a warehouse, built in the late 19th century and early 20th century, with some alterations. The front is made of sandstone ashlar, while the rear facing South King Street is constructed of brick, with the roof concealed. The building has a narrow rectangular plan positioned at right angles to the street, featuring frontages on both King Street and South King Street.

The King Street facade is designed in the Baroque style and consists of three storeys and an attic with three unequal bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front. The upper floors feature a prominent segmental bow in the center with five-light windows, flanked by narrower rectangular bays with single-light windows, all of which have transoms. There are enriched bands between the floors, a modillioned eaves cornice, and a balustraded parapet above the bow. The central attic window is a pedimented three-light window with decorative carving in the pediment.

The South King Street facade has two low storeys and includes four windows on the first floor. It retains an original cast-iron shop front with slender shafts and an elaborately decorated frieze beneath a cornice that arches over the center (the windows are currently blacked out). There is a sashed window on the first floor, along with a cornice and a parapet that features a central pediment and a ball finial.
