Description

Old Cross is a cross base with a later shaft, located in Affetside, South Turton. It is probably medieval in origin, while the shaft may date from the 18th century. The structure is made of stone and features three circular steps leading up to a roughly cut Tuscan column, which has a mortise cut at the top. It is likely that this served as a market cross.
