Description

A terrace of three houses, including a shop, built around 1840. The buildings are constructed from squared and watershot coursed stone with a hipped slate roof. The terrace has two storeys and a three-window facade, comprising three double-pile houses, with the ground floor of number 245 currently used as a shop. The doorways have moulded stone architraves. Number 249 now has top-hung casement windows with leading dating to around 1930 in the central house; the other windows have wedge lintels. The shop window at number 245 has a moulded wood architrave. There are two ridge chimneys. The terrace was part of a model factory community established by the Ashworth family of New Eagley Mill between 1835 and 1855, and it connects as a single build to number 2 Hugh Lupus Street. The interior was not inspected.
