Description

A terrace of eight houses located in Eleanor Street, Bolton, built around 1830 to 1840. The houses are constructed of coursed and squared stone with a hipped slate roof. They are arranged as a two-storey, eight-window range, with a prominent, pedimented central section covering three windows, creating a 3-2-3 window arrangement. The central section features round arched windows within the pediment, while the remaining windows have flat-arched painted stone surrounds, with largely renewed 4-pane sashes. The doorways have plain architraves. The houses have end wall stacks. Originally designed as back-to-back dwellings, the terrace was converted around 1900. The terrace was originally part of a model factory community established by the Ashworth family of New Eagley Mill between 1835 and 1855. The interior has not been inspected.
