Description
The Blundell Arms Public House is a building that dates from the 17th century and early 19th century. It is constructed from dressed stone with quoins and features stone slate roofs. The structure is two storeys high and has five bays. The first bay projects and is canted, making it taller than the others, while the end two bays are recessed and lower.
The first bay includes a 1:4:1-light casement window and a round-headed cellar entrance. The second and third bays feature ovolo-mullioned windows with four lights, and the ground floor of the second bay has a window with three lights and a two-light end window in what was previously an entrance. There is a central 20th-century porch leading to the entrance, which is accessed by steps. The end two bays have a three-light window and a casement in the former entrance of the second bay. The first bay shows signs of a previous entrance.
On the first floor, there is a blocked two-light ovolo-mullioned window, a boarded two-light window, and possibly two blocked lights. The building has cross-axial and gable-end stacks, and there are lean-to extensions at the rear. The left gable-end has blind windows, and there is a fireplace with a corbelled stone lintel.
