Description

This is a terrace of three houses located in Playfair Street, Bolton, built around the 1840s and 1850s. The houses are constructed of random rubble with slate roofs. They are two storeys high, with a three-window facade that represents a single unit, double-pile plan for each house. The doorways have plain architraves, and the windows have flat arched heads—all in openings that appear original, though the windows themselves have been replaced. The eaves overhang and are supported by wrought-iron brackets. Chimneys are located on the end walls. Stone walls enclose yards to the rear of the terrace. The interior has not been inspected. The terrace was developed as part of the planned industrial community of Eagley Bank, linked to Chadwick's Eagley Mills.
