Description
Nos. 135 and 137 on Church Street are a pair of mid-19th century houses located on the cobbled entrance to the church, facing the Ring o' Bells and Church House. The houses are constructed from rusticated stone and feature a symmetrical front with end gabled wings. Each wing has a door and a pointed arched window, both with hood moulds, as well as cusped 2-light windows with shaped heads. There is a narrow pointed light at the top of each gable. The central block has two 2-light windows on each floor, with the upper ones being half-dormers in gablets. The steep slate roof is complemented by stone chimneys. The facade facing Church Street includes two 2-light windows on the ground floor and one above in a central gabled half-dormer. These buildings, along with the Ring o' Bells Public House, Nos. 131 to 137, the Church of St Elphin, the cobbled approach, and the Gateway, form a group with Nos. 142 to 160.
