Description
Cromwell House is a block of three 17th century cottages located on the north side of Church Street. The cottages have been well restored and feature a timber-framed "black and white" design, with most of the timbering being original. They are two storeys high, with whitewashed brick infilling set on a stone base. The first floor overhangs and has a coved design. The roof is restored and features gabled ends. The windows are restored casements with wooden mullions and leaded glass. There is a restored facsimile door. At the rear, there are single-storey brick additions and three large half-dormers. The cottages were probably originally constructed as a single house. Cromwell House, along with The General Wolfe Public House and the adjacent properties, forms a group.
