Description
The premises of Gorden Sheds, built in 1841, were originally canal stables. The building is constructed of brick that has been painted white, topped with a graded grey slate gabled roof. There is a basket-arched cart entrance located near the left end, while other openings feature semi-circular arches. The building includes paired stable windows and horseshoe-shaped pitch-holes, along with two brick ridge chimneys. A brick date is displayed in raised diamond format on the west gable.
Near the center of the front, two archways have been altered to create a vehicular entrance, and a light shed is attached to each end of the front. The arches and cills are painted black. Overall, the front of the building is a strong example of early Victorian functional canal-building style.
