Description
Prospect House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It features a whitened roughcast exterior on brick, a slate roof with stone copings, and brick end stacks. The building has a three-storey facade with two windows. Five steps lead up to a four-panel door with a plain fanlight, set within a moulded round-headed doorcase that has a vermiculated keystone. On either side of the entrance, there are full-height canted bays with single glazing bar sashes that rise to the top floor. The eaves cornice is heavily moulded and curves to form semicircular heads above the second-floor windows. Below the ground floor windows, there are sunken panels, and pilaster angle mullions with moulded caps support a projecting cornice. Inside, there are four-panel doors throughout, a staircase with heavy reeded balusters, a quarter space landing with windows, and exposed ceiling joists at the first floor level. The property also includes stone steps with cast-iron railings, which feature spear finials.
