Description
Catsclough Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with a 20th-century addition. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a roof made of plain tiles and slate. The 17th-century part of the cottage is a single storey with an attic, while the 20th-century section has two storeys.
On the entrance front, there is a large projecting wing from the 20th century on the right side, with the 17th-century portion on the left. This older section has eight by three cells of small framing on the left and an additional two cells on the right, which are obscured by a 20th-century lean-to porch in the re-entrant angle. There is a passing tension brace on the far left. The left gable end features a tie-beam with queen posts and a king post at the apex. The rear of the building has rendered timber framing with six by three cells of small framing and a passing tension brace, with the 20th-century addition to the left.
