Description
The Trent and Mersey Canal Aqueduct Number 205 is a canal aqueduct built in 1777 by James Brindley for the Trent and Mersey Canal Company. It is constructed from English bond blue brick. The south face features a bold, curving facade with a segmental arch at its center, supported by tall abutments that lead into a barrel vault beneath the canal. At each end of the aqueduct are tall, triangular buttresses. The plain parapet has a rounded stone coping that ends in plain pilasters, and the entire structure stands approximately 10 meters high. Notably, there is no parapet on the north side.
