Description
The stable range and two cottages date from around 1810. The buildings are constructed of brick with slate roofs. The stable range forms an L-shape, and on its yard side it contains five stable doors and an archway giving access to Chorlton Hall and its gardens. It has six pitch holes with curved stone sills, and two windows with arched brick heads, along with some later-added windows. Two adjoining two-storey cottages are attached; one is built into the stable range, and the other was added later. Both cottages have timber casements, with the right-hand cottage featuring small-paned windows. A doorway to the right-hand cottage, positioned below a porch, features a doorcase dated, possibly, 1661, with an illegible inscription that may read "in the lifetime of George Manwaringe c1660." This doorcase was recorded over a door lintel in 1882.
