Description
The Rectory and attached Coach House is a house with a 17th century core that has been altered and extended in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is a long two-storey building, originally a house with an attached cottage on the left side. The exterior features white painted brickwork and gabled slate roofs, with a projecting gable chimney on the right. There are some mid-19th century small-pane iron casements and a six-panel door with a later trellis porch. A blocked back door has Gothick-arched panels and is set in an arched projecting porch. To the left is a mid-19th century extension, and to the right is a modern extension that is in keeping with the original design.
Inside, there is a two-flight oak staircase, painted and probably from the early 18th century, featuring altered square newels and closely spaced turned balusters. The interior also includes oak framing in the internal wall and two chamfered oak purlins in the west bedroom, along with a five-panel 18th century door leading to the drawing room. In the former cottage at the east end on the ground floor, there are two boarded ledged and battened doors.
The simple two-storey L-shaped coach house is constructed of brick with gabled slate roofs and features boarded doors leading to the garage and the former hayloft. The coach house is linked to the main house by a walled yard.
