Description
1 and 2 Hulse Lane are a pair of cottages dating from the mid 17th century. They feature a brick nogged timber frame with brickwork and a slate roof, and are single storey with an attic. The cottages consist of two bays and have 14 frame panels. There are added brick lean-to extensions at the rear and on both gables. The timber framing includes small panels with angle braces. The roof has been raised by adding seven courses of brickwork above the original wallplate. The front includes one boarded door and a 20th-century four-panel door with a glazed elliptical top panel. The ground floor has two-light casement windows with added night vents, while the attic features small three-light casements. The timbers are visible in the gables and rear above the level of the lean-to roofs. There is a partly wall chimney. Inside, the west cottage has ovolo-moulded beams, and the east cottage has bevelled beams, along with boarded doors.
