Description
The Noden Tomb, located 10 metres west of the west end of the south aisle of the Church of St John, is a table tomb dating from around 1800. It is made of red sandstone and features panel filling on each side. The north and south sides display raised festoons, while the east end has an urn set in an oval sinking. The west end features an open book in an oval sinking, inscribed with the words "Blessed be the dead who did die in the Lord." The tomb commemorates Margaret, the wife of Samuel Noden, who died in 1800 at the age of 36, Samuel Noden, who died in 1840 at the age of 77, and Ann, Samuel's second wife, who died in 1858 at the age of 78.
