Description
The Obelisk is a structure built in 1890 by the architects Douglas and Fordham for the 1st Duke of Westminster. It features a red sandstone shaft that is capped with copper, standing on a square red sandstone plinth. This plinth is set upon a grey stone stepped base. On the east and west faces of the plinth, there are blue and gold mosaic emblems within stone wreaths; the east side displays the Grosvenor sheaf, while the west side features a portcullis and chain.
