Description

Coachmore Hill Lodge is a lodge built in the 1880s, likely designed by John Douglas. This picturesque, square, one-and-a-half storey lodge cottage features a lower storey made of squared snecked red sandstone, with oak framed gables and dormers, and roofs covered in grey/green slate with red tile ridges. The building has stone chimneys topped with barleysugar moulded brick circular flues. The front gable juts out and is supported by carved oak console brackets. The windows have moulded surrounds, with mullions and transoms on the larger windows. The upper storey windows are oak framed and mullioned, and all front and side windows have patterned leaded glazing. The front door is shaped and boarded, made of oak, and features ornate wrought iron hinges and a latch. Stone pilasters flank the doorway, and there is carved oak detailing on the front bedroom window that imitates the classical motifs used by Jacobean country builders. Inside, there is an 'L' shaped staircase with simple newels and shaped flat balusters, along with four-panel bolection moulded doors.
