Description

The east garden walls and gatepiers to Utkinton Hall were built around 1700 for Sir John Crewe. They are made of tooled ashlar red sandstone. The main wall runs parallel to the front of the house and stands approximately 1.4 meters high, featuring flat coping. At the center of the wall, there is a pair of gatepiers with plain square bodies set on moulded plinths, topped with moulded capstones and ball finials. These gatepiers support a recent iron gate, which is accessed by three steps. Additionally, three low walls connect the main wall to the house. This structure is included for its group value.
