Description
The Griffith Tomb, located 13 metres west of the west end of the south aisle of the Church of St John, is a table tomb dating from around 1800 and made of sandstone. It is supported by three cross-slabs, each featuring a narrow oval panel at each end, with the outer slabs having a broad oval panel on each outer side. The tomb commemorates several individuals: Sarah, the wife of Joseph Griffith, who died in 1799 at the age of 26; Joseph, who died in 1840 at the age of 86; Ellen, Joseph's second wife, who died in 1858 at the age of 74; their daughter Ellen, who died in 1856 at the age of 48; their son William, who died in 1862 at the age of 43; and David, the son of Joseph and Sarah, who died in 1861 at the age of 70.
