Description
The table tomb of Roll Okell and others is located in St Peter's churchyard, 12 metres south of the southwest corner of the church. This tomb, dating from 1775, is made of stone and features fluted antae at the corners. Each end has a recessed panel, and there are two recessed panels divided by a pilaster on each side. The slab is inscribed with the details of Roll Okell, the son of John and Mary Okell of Sutton, who passed away on May 20th, 1775, at the age of six. The inscription also mentions John Okell, the father, and others including Felicia Okell, who died in 1821 at the age of 88; Mary, the wife of John Okell, who died in 1825 at the age of 75; Margaret Okell, who died in 1840 at the age of 53; and Hannah Okell of Knutsford.
