Description

Numbers 1-17 Deva Terrace is a terrace of seventeen houses with front garden walls and steps, dating back to the 1850s. The houses are constructed of red-brown and red brick in a Flemish bond to the front, with grey slate roofs. The architectural style is Late Georgian.

The houses are three storeys high, with most having a single bay, except for number 16, which is double-fronted. Numbers 1 to 14 have paired doors within three-storey, round-arched recessed brick panels, topped with pediment gables. Number 15 has a narrow frontage, while numbers 16 and 17 are slightly later and built of redder brick, angled forward. Numbers 1 to 8 and 10 feature plaster doorcase pilasters, while numbers 16 and 17 have separate, plainer plaster doorcases, all topped with plaster entablatures. Numbers 1 to 14 originally had doors consisting of one large fielded panel; those at numbers 6, 7, and 15 have been replaced, while numbers 16 and 17 have four-panel doors with overlights. The windows are recessed sash windows: numbers 1 to 15 feature twelve-pane windows on the first and second floors and nine panes on the third floor, with painted stone sills and gauged brick segmental arches. Numbers 16 and 17 have four-pane sashes within shouldered and eared architraves. Some sashes on numbers 6, 7, and 14 have been replaced or altered, with an inserted sash above the doorway of number 12. The terrace has two chimneys on the west end and ridge chimneys. The rears of the houses have no noteworthy features.

The interior spaces are awkwardly arranged in relation to the facade, with a single window near the corner of each main room.
