Description

The parish boundary stone located in the grounds of Chester Zoo dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is made of red sandstone and features a semi-circular top. The east face of the stone has a line and the inscription "S:M," which stands for the Parish of St. Mary on the Hill, Chester. The lettering is in good condition but shows signs of wear. It is noted that part of this stone may also stand within the civil parishes of Moston and Upton-by-Chester.
