Description
The Main Lodge to Belmont Hall, built around 1755, is a lodge made of stone-dressed brick with a low-pitched grey slate roof. It features a symmetrical front facing the drive, with a stone porch supported by Tuscan columns that are attached to the fronts of the side walls and have quarter antae in the re-entrant corners. The porch includes an entablature and a replaced door with six fielded panels. Each wing has a 12-pane recessed sash window with consoles and a stone cornice, and there are similar windows at each end. The lower rear wing, which consists of one room, was likely extended in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. This lodge may be attributed to the architect James Gibbs, as it is associated with Belmont Hall.
