Description
North Lodge to Belmont Hall is a lodge built around 1755. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building is one storey high and is symmetrical to the drive. The original six-panel door has been replaced with a three-pane overlight in a projecting square Tuscan porch made of sandstone, featuring engaged columns at the corners and quarter-antae in the re-entrants. The sides of the porch have banded stonework, and there is an entablature above. The eaves cornice is dentilled. On each side of the porch, there is a recessed panel that contains a replaced recessed twelve-pane sash window. The corners of the lodge have clasping pilasters, with one pilaster on each end wall. The interior has not been inspected, but oak panelling is visible in the left front room. This lodge may have been designed by James Gibbs, who is also associated with Belmont Hall located on Warrington Road in Great Budworth.
