Description

Shipbrook Bridge is a road bridge dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar and features a single span. The bridge has a central semi-elliptical arch made up of raised and round-chamfered voussoirs, with a keystone that rises to meet the parapet. The parapet is formed of large stone blocks with a chamfered coping. The walls of the bridge are slightly canted to either side and end in square piers topped with pyramidal caps. Approximately half of the bridge is located in Whatcroft civil parish.
