Description

A late 17th-century farm building, with 19th-century alterations, stands at Manor Farm. The building is constructed of brick nogging to a timber frame, with a tile roof, forming an "L" shaped plan. It comprises four truss bays to the north-east and five truss bays to the south-west. The north-east section has twenty-three small-framed panels above first-floor level, with some timber framing to the rear (north-west). This section includes half-heck and full-height ledged and braced doors, and hopper-light windows. The south-west section is largely brick, but retains some timber framing to the rear (north-east). Round pitch holes with stone sills are visible at loft level. Inside, a heavy, oak-studded door, set in a dowelled frame within the north-east elevation, leads to an open loft staircase. The loft features trusses with struts from the tie beam to the lower purlins, and collars at upper purlin level. The original purlins, wind braces, and ridge trees remain.
