Description

Brook House Farm House is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the late 17th century, but it has an appearance from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in English Garden Wall Bond and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in three bays. A two-storey, two-bay rear wing on the north-east side completes its "L" shaped plan.

There are two deep brick bands above the ground floor and first floor windows. The central bay is set forward and features a two-storey gabled porch that is open at the front and includes side seats. A six-panel door, which has external architraves around the frame, aligns with the front wall of the house. The windows are three-light flush casements with weathered terracotta sills and flat skewback arches, although the window in the porch projection on the first floor is only two-light. The porch roof is made of shaped slates.

The gables are adorned with planted timbers and plaster infilling, as well as barge boards, finials, and gable-end stacks. On the west side, there is a framed, ledged and battened door that is sheltered by a slated pitched hood supported by shaped brackets.

Inside, the farmhouse features six-panel doors, bevelled beams (some of which are cased in at the front of the house), and a dogleg staircase with a heavy handrail and twisted oak balusters. The first floor has bevelled beams, exposed joists, and additional six-panel doors.
