Description
Rookery Cottage and Swan Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the mid to late 17th century, with later additions. They feature timber framing with rendered brick and a slate roof. Each cottage is two storeys high and consists of one bay, with an additional bay added to the south gable of Rookery Cottage in the 20th century. The cottages have a stone plinth and small framing that is three panels high, supported by angle braces. The entrances have boarded doors beneath gabled hoods, although the door to Swan Cottage has been replaced in the 20th century. The ground floor windows are three-light, but the two windows on Rookery Cottage are 20th-century bow windows. The first floor features two-light gabled half dormers. The added bay on Rookery Cottage is made of rendered brickwork. Additionally, a stucco rendered brick cottage with a slate roof and 20th-century door and windows has been built against the north gable of Swan Cottage, but this structure is not of special interest.
