Description
The granary located 30 meters east of Shotwicklodge Farmhouse is likely from 1653, with some later alterations. It is built of orange brick in English garden wall bond, featuring red sandstone dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The building has a two-storey, two-bay south front with a chamfered stone plinth and flush stone quoins. It is topped with moulded stone copings, kneelers, and remnants of obelisk finials. There are two blocked doorways with four-centred arches and stone surrounds; the left doorway has a worn inscription on the lintel that probably reads AD 1653. A small two-light sliding sash window is present in the upper storey. An external flight of steps with stone treads is attached to the right gable. The north face of the building has 19th-century doors and windows. Inside, the roof features trusses with a tiebeam and two diagonal struts, along with trenched purlins.
