Description

The Pattern Shop is an 1880-90 brown brick building located against a bank and retaining wall on the east side of the upper narrow lock in Ellesmere Port and Neston. The upper storey is at ground level on the west side, while the lower storey is on the east side. It features a small flush chimney on the south gable and small-pane cast iron windows with camber-arched heads. The lower floor (east) and upper floor (west) have boarded doors. This building was constructed to store timber patterns used for making iron-casting molds for the foundry, which is part of a larger group of structures associated with the narrow locks.
