Description
The Lime Shed, built around 1830 and extended between 1880 and 1885, is a single-storey rectangular warehouse made of red-brown brick with slate roofs. The building features stone cappings on the end gables and at the parapet where it changes level to the taller north-western extension. There are boarded doors located at the south-east end and along the north-east side, which faces the canal arm. Two circular ventilator windows were later added to the older part of the building. The west corner is chamfered and corbelled above to create space for horses to pass between the building and the canal. Additionally, there are remains of a crane fixing on the north-east wall, which was used for lifting planks into the dry dock.
