Description

The water valve housing, located on the south-east side of the Cross in Malpas, dates from around 1820 and is made of cast iron. It has a circular shape with a domed top and features a small circular hole in the crown. This valve housing resembles a squat bollard and serves as a remnant of the piped water system established in Malpas around the same time. The water was sourced from Bradley Brook and stored in a reservoir on the motte.
