Description

The Manor House, now divided into two detached houses, dates from the early 18th century and was altered around 1800. The exterior is rendered, likely over brick, with a grey slate roof running parallel to the front. The house has two storeys and five windows. A part-glazed door is set within a round-arched opening flanked by slim columns set within rebates, topped by a hood supported by substantial, probably Victorian, consoles. Recessed sash windows feature: two twelve-pane sashes to the left of the entrance, and one twelve-pane sash to the right. A gabled porch with an inserted door serves the right-hand house (No.31). Five twelve-pane sashes are on the first floor. Simple eaves and bargeboards are present, along with two chimneys positioned before the ridge and one visible behind it. The left end of the building features a doorway, a twelve-pane stairsash window, a sixteen-pane first-floor sash, and a square ten-pane attic sash in the gable. The interior of No.29 was inspected and shows alterations due to the subdivision of the house, including substantial six-panel doors, one with short central panels, shuttered window openings, cornices, and a good, oak dogleg staircase running parallel to the front with an open string and stout, turned balusters.
